FAQ

What are these? Why don't they stick to my nail?
  • These are waterslide decals. These decals are NOT like stickers and require water to come off the white backing. Also, since they are not stickers, they require an adhesive to stay on the nail. The adhesive you use is completely up to you and whatever medium (gel, dip, lacquer, etc) you are using to do your nails.
What are different products that can be used to adhere these decals?
  • The preferred method of application for Tam and most of her ambassador team is foil gel, but there are several other products that work great as well. There are many people who suffer from gel allergies, and they use air dry products such as sticky base coats and odorless or slow drying dip base. Some people use rubber base or regular base gel for application, but do keep in mind that what works for one person may not work for others and it's all a matter of personal preference and what you feel most comfortable using.
How do I apply these?
  • There are a few different tutorials posted in our Facebook group using different products and we are working on providing more! If you have suggestions, please let us know!
Odorless Dip Base application:
Why aren't the decals showing up over my dip/gel/lacquer color? Do I have to use white under them?
  • There are specific decals we offer that are made so you can wear them over any color. These are called OVERLAYS, and there are many available on the website. However, in order to get the most vibrancy out of your decals with colorful designs, you need to use an opaque and flat white as your base color. There are several designs that will give a beautiful effect if a shimmery white or pale pink/nude is used underneath, but for the most part, a stark white is recommended.
  • If you are using minis, not full cover decals, there is a technique called reverse stamping that will allow you to use these specific type of decals over ANY color base. We'll cover that in the next bullet point!
What is REVERSE STAMPING and how do I do it?
  • Reverse stamping is a technique that is used so you can wear your Mini decals over any color base! Basically, this entails "coloring in" the back of the design using a white of your choice (gel, lacquer, acrylic paint, etc) so that when you apply the decal over the color of your choice the decals original colors are still vibrant and it looks as it did on the sheet.

Can I use these on my natural nails?
  • Absolutely! These decals can be used over extensions, natural nails, or press-ons with the same ease of application yielding the same beautiful results.
Will these be too wide for my nails? Why are they square shaped?
  • Not at all! Although it may look like the decals are wide, that width aids in the application process and is necessary to account for the natural curvature of of the nail. The square design of these decals helps by giving a few millimeters to hold on the edges so you can easily hold it taut and give it a slight stretch over the nail to get a wrinkle-free, flawless application. Most of the decals are now offered in 3 different sizes so you can choose the best one for your nail length. Due to the amount of time it takes and image distortion, decals will not be resized further than the 3 available options so as to not compromise image quality.

How should I properly store my decals?
  • ALWAYS keep them in the original sleeves they are shipped to you in, even if you intend to store them in binders. Air is the enemy of all decals, so the more protection you have against it, the better. They don't need to be air tight, but the sleeves they're sent in are super thin and keep them fresher longer. Also try to keep them away from direct light and at room temperature. They can be restored if necessary with Savage Necromancy, but if stored properly you shouldn't need to use it for 6 to 8 months.
What is Savage Necromancy and how do I use it?
  • Savage Necromancy is a liquid that restores all your old decals back to new! The coating on all decals will start to break down over time, making it harder to get the flawless application like we've all come to know and love from P&SC decals. The Necromancy liquid will solve that problem in 15 minutes!

How do I order custom decals and what sort of images can be used?

  • You can use basically any image that you are able to send through email or messenger, as long as it is clear and not a large zoomed in image. When sending photos of people or pets, please make sure they are not blurry and try to avoid close-up shots to ensure you are able to get the entire image on your nail and best decal quality we are able to offer.
  • To order custom decals you just have to find 9 images you would like and send a message to PRETTYANDSAVAGECREATIONS.COM along with a short description of the type of look you are wanting to achieve in case the images need to be cropped. Custom orders may take longer to ship out, so keep this in mind when placing orders for available single sheets and customs together.

How do I prevent chipping/peeling/flaking between manis?

  • In order to get longevity out of your decal mani, the most important thing to is to file your edges properly so there is no overhanging decal on the nail so that you are able to properly seal and protect your decal. Once you are sure there is absolutely no overhang, encapsulating your decal with whatever product you're most comfortable using is the next step, making sure to cap your edges really well for a good seal. Encapsulating in a clear dip has helped a lot of people who are a bit more rough with their hands, but you can also encapsulate with gel base, clear builder gel, or rubber base (and the image will be much clearer than with clear dip). What you use really depends on what you feel most comfortable with, and what medium holds up best for you, but the best rule of thumb for any medium is to be sure to cap all free edges!
